“Plex Systems is a software-as-a-service company that is focused on cloud computing ERP systems.  Founded in 1995, Plex Systems is led by CEO Jason Blessing.  The company first started out as an internal project at an auto parts manufacturer called MSP Industries back in 1989.

“We are focused on helping manufacturers drive down cost, increase quality, and enhance productivity,” Blessing told me in an interview at the company’s data center offices in Auburn Hills, Michigan.  “Thousands of users rely on the Plex Manufacturing Cloud today in the auto, aerospace, and food industries.”

In 2006, Apax partners acquired a majority of Plex.  At that time, Plex used to be called Plexus, but the company was renamed in 2009.  About a year ago, Plex was completely acquired by Francisco Partners.  There are currently 3 Francisco board partners at Plex.

This past December, Plex raised $30 million in additional funding from Accel Partners.  Plex is using the funding to further develop their “rapid shop floor to top floor” cloud technology.”
